Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about CPD validation, assessment and approval.

What is CPD validation?

CPD validation is an independent review of a Continuing Professional Development activity against defined standards relating to its learning outcomes, content, structure, delivery, assessment and supporting evidence.

Who can apply for CPD validation?

Training providers, course creators, consultants, organisations and other providers of structured professional development activities can submit CPD for validation.

What evidence do I need to submit?

Evidence will depend on the CPD activity, but may include course materials, learning outcomes, presentations, handbooks, assessments, learner resources and information showing the expected duration of learning.

How are CPD hours determined?

CPD hours are considered based on the genuine learning time associated with the activity rather than simply the overall advertised duration.

Does submitting an application guarantee approval?

No. Every submission is assessed against the published CPD Validation Standards. Where requirements are not met, feedback may be provided identifying areas requiring improvement.

What happens when my CPD is approved?

Approved CPD receives validation documentation confirming the activity has met our validation standards. Permission to use the CPD Validation Mark for the approved activity is subject to our applicable terms.

How long does validation last?

CPD validation is valid for 12 months from the date of approval. After this period, the CPD activity must be renewed to maintain its validated status and continued use of the CPD Validation Mark, subject to our terms.

Can I submit more than one course?

Yes. Providers with several CPD activities can request multi-course validation or discuss an ongoing provider validation package.
